MAMMOGRAPHY
Breast imaging procedures include Mammography, 3-D digital mammography (Tomosynthesis) and computer-aided detection.
Mammography remains the primary modality in the screening and detection of breast cancer.
Regular annual mammograms remain the best tool currently available in the early detection of breast cancer, with improved accuracy as a result of 3-D mammograms (Tomosynthesis). Whereas conventional mammography produces a 2D flat image, Breast Tomosynthesis creates a three-dimensional rendering of the breast which results in increased accuracy and a decrease in the recall and biopsy rate, at no additional cost.
